Burnout Triumphant Series
Our Burnout Triumphant Series is here to share real-life stories of people having gone through severe burnout syndrome and coming out victorious on the other end. Burnout is a serious condition and needs to be addressed proactively and responsibly in order to prevent its occurrence in the very first place and overcome an already existing burned-out state. By sharing the stories of our guests we want to raise awareness, spread the word, and enable our viewers to recognize any potential red flags with their own lifestyle.
Lisa Van den Bunder is our next Burnout Triumphants guest. Lisa is headquartered in the Belgian capital of Brussels. She founded her own company, One Bite at a Time, after a 9-year consulting job. The firm offers nutritional counseling. She enjoys reading, yoga, meditation, dining out, and spending time with her family in her spare time. She battled burnout during her consulting years and emerged stronger than ever. She is passionate about sharing her tale and her experience with burnout syndrome.
Lisa’s interest in food began in the vegetable garden at her grandparents’ house when she was a child. Food remained vital in her social life as she grew older, as well as while she lived in Sweden, France, and the United Kingdom. She became severely ill in January 2019 and had to leave her job. What began as a burnout escalated into much more- she was diagnosed with many conditions and food intolerances. She had to make a lot of lifestyle and dietary modifications in order to regain her creativity and professional desire.
As a result, “One Bite at a Time” was founded in the summer of 2020. The practice’s aim is to inspire people to reclaim their health, energy, and ultimately longevity by providing individualized orthomolecular dietary counseling.
In this episode of Burnout Triumphants, Lisa discusses her background and personal narrative, as well as her schooling and road to counseling. She describes her burnout and how it evolved over time, her perfectionist tendencies, the goals she set for herself in terms of “climbing the corporate ladder”, and personal setbacks throughout her first year of employment. She describes the indicators that led her to believe she was on the verge of burnout, as well as the physical and psychological changes she went through and personal experiences from her time of struggle. She talks about working with a coach, a psychologist, and a doctor, as well as her whole recovery process and how she stays healthy now.
